Summer Ballet Camps

Summer Ballet camps are a great way to stay involved in dance for a week at a time if your schedule does not allow you to commit for the whole summer. Depending on the program details and age range of the camps, these weeks will usually be either half to a whole day long, 5 days a week. Camps usually include a dance class, snacks, crafts, and a fun performance for families to watch. Check out offerings at your local ballet studio to see what dates will work for you. If your studio doesn't offer any camps, this could be a great time to branch out and see what other studios have to offer.

Weekly Ballet Classes

Most studios will continue to offer regular weekly classes all throughout the summer. The older students get, the more it is advised that they stay active throughout the summer to help keep their skills sharp. Most studios will offer prorated classes as well to work around vacation absences. If you are worried about missing a few weeks of the summer session, talk to your studio administrations and see if they offer a prorated plan or drop-in options.

Performance Opportunities

The summer can be a great time for ballet students to try out different performance that might not necessarily be dance related, btu will have a great impact on developing acting skills on stage. Check out the local youth theatre groups to see if they are offering camps, classes, or summer performances to get involved with.

Trying Different Dance Styles

Summer time can be a great way to venture out and try new genres outside of ballet. With shorter semester, and less classes to commit to, it's a lot easier to try out a new style to decide if you like it or not. Many different genres will compliment ballet training. consider adding contemporary, dance acrobatics, jazz, or tap and see if you like it!

Summer Ballet Activities Party

You can always throw your own summer ballet party too with your best ballet friends! Host a fun backyard party with water balloons and special ballet activities. You can rotate teaching each other a fun ballet class, practice stretching together, or make cool refreshing popsicle snacks to enjoy in the sun. Dance friends will love seeing each other outside of the ballet studio.
